[2 Book Reviews in a Paragraph] Jared Diamond’s ‘Collapse’ and ‘The Introvert Advantage: How to Thrive in an Extrovert World’

I have been deviating from my reading list, and I’m also committed to NaNoWriMo, so I’m so dead.  Why I am being un-smart and reading useless books?

Collapse‘ was full of interesting stories, so that’s cool, but they all turn out to be interesting in one way: Jared Diamond‘s way.  So if you did like his other books, then sure, go for it.  Otherwise, it’s quite a lot of bit of wailing about environmental damage by humans and how that engendered collapse in civilizations and how we’re going to end up that way if don’t close down all our coal plants. Poo.  Next, since I’m a ridiculous introvert, I thought ‘The Introvert Advantage: How to Survive in an Extrovert World‘ would be extremely helpful.  It wasn’t.  Examples of advice: After a few minutes of socializing, go take a bathroom break. Take a deep breath.  Drink a glass of water (so you actually have an excuse to the go the bathroom later).

Verdict: both useless books.  Diamond’s is less useless, but I don’t have any coal plants.
